Question

Just a question for the guys who have upgraded to the SupraTT brakes.

Did any of you install the larger splash shields behind the rotors? Do they even fit.

I dont want to buy them if they wont fit. Thanks

Same here, just cut off my old ones and didn't replace them.

Supra ones will fit but I believe you need to cut a slot in them and slip them back on if you don't want to deal with removing the wheel hub.

Default what do I need

Hey there, I looked at the parts trader and found some rotors and calipers available. What year do I want? Are any Supra turbo brakes better? Do I replace the rear also? I don't wanna spend 2K for Brembo fronts....

The Supra TT brakes are tons better than stock. The fronts are 13" rotors and 4 piston calipers and are one of the best bang-for-the-buck mods you can do to your SC.

Clint, how come turboimports does NOT offer the SC300 turbo kit?

On the Supra video was the car WOT throught the lights or did ya back out of it (sandbaggin) ?

BTW, the 95-97 LS400 has 12.4" fronts with 4 piston calipers and 12.2 backs.

TurboImports.com does not offer an SC300 turbo kit because, what little demand their is, Toyomoto does a fine job of satisfying.

If someone is interested in a one-off special project, we can always accomodate. It's only money!

Which video are you refering too?

turbo model only, and it has to be a 1993.5 or newer. The main thing to look for are calipers. Toyota sells a new Caliper Rebuild Kit that isn't too expensive, so the condition doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. As far as rotors, don't mess with used, the tolerance is pretty tight on these and most people can turn these only once, and that's if they're lucky. I'm not sure about your SS lines, but the TRD stainless application specified for the Supra TT works fine on the SC300/400.

Brembo's would be nice, but at $2k, they're a lot more than the Supra TT brakes. I don't think you'd see a $1200 difference between the Supra TT brakes and the Brembos. Not only are the Supra TT rotors larger in diameter, but they're also thicker, have way more mass. I feel like I could stop a freight train with these brakes.

On the brake pads, be prepared for significantly more brake dust from the stock Toyota Supra TT ones. I don't know if its just the nature of the beast or what.... There are many alternatives to the TT pads, but the MKIV guys usually rave about the stock pads in terms of performance.

I think "Green Stuff" pads are available for the TT application, but haven't used them. They're supposed to be free of brake dust.

For good prices on the Toyota stuff see Jay Marks Toyota add in the www.mkiv.com site. They really do have excellent deals on these.

Jbrady,
As far as Clint (TurboImports) offering the Toyomoto kit, I personally think it would be great... It is extremely labor intensive, though as all the pipes are custom made. I'm not sure whether Clint has a dedicated pipeologist on staff yet. One thing is for sure, Clint definitely takes better care of his customers. I'd suggest anyone looking at add-ons look at TurboImports to see if they have it first. He cares about his customers and the products he sells and would probably do some price matching on stuff. If Clint could lure Lance over to Texas, he'd have the perfect shop.
