Strut Assembly Replacement
I have a '95 SC3 with 138k miles running on STOCK struts--so I need to replace them asap!
I've searched through many CL threads to gather information on strut recommendations and here's what I've got so far:
struts: KYB or Tokico HP
strut mounts: any OEMs except KYBs because they don't include new
mounting nuts/washers
bellows/bumpers: no idea about which ones to get/not get
I guess a few obvious questions I have now are:
Any recommended strut mounts and bellows/bumpers?
Can I mix/match struts with strut mounts and bellows?
Any advice or thread recommendations would be much appreciated.

I'm in a similar situation as you. I want to lower my car and for that i need new struts/springs.I cant recommend anything for the struts yet since i havent gotten to that part of my research. I have been looking at a lot of threads about replacing springs and from what i gather, its recommended that you change them both at the same time. If you are going with after market struts i would suggest you get some lowering springs to go with it. Eibach Prokits or OEM Supra TT springs seem to be the most popular once since they lower your car by about 1-1.5 inches but still retain some of the comfort that you get from your stock lexus suspension. Now if you dont have any plans to lower your car then i would recommend for you to go with KYB struts as they are the manufacturer for the OEM struts on our cars.
Thats the extent of my knowledge on these.
I would also suggest for you to take a look at this website if you havent already:
http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html
It has a lot of information and DIY on a number of things you could do to your car. Very good place to start.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Our sc's do not have struts but rather a coil over shock so I doubt you will need a top hat to be replaced.
KYB's ride harsh so that leaves the blues which are great for a oem type replacement.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. I think I'll go with the blues over the KYBs. What's a good spring setup with the blue HPs?

Are you sure they're coilovers? I'm almost positive the Tockicos are struts.

100% sure they are a coil over shock
Struts have steering parts that are attached to the front hub and pivot on the strut mount bearing plate.

xspsi6: Right on, thanks for clarifying that. I literally learned how struts worked like a week ago so I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out, haha. Thanks again
lev00221: Are you still selling the ones from this thread "San Antonio: OEM SC400 Springs and Struts"?

This might be a more obvious question, but since they're coil over shocks, what kind of coil over springs are good to pair up with the blues?
