Default Dumb question.

I know it's dumb and I'm sure I'm thinking this over too much, but I need some exhaust help. I promise with one solid answer I won't keep asking. Ive spent Too much time researching and just can't come to a conclusion. Simply, I want to delete the resonators and mufflers on my SC400 and replace them with 2.25" straight pipe. I love the sound. I found the perfect tips as well. My only prob is the lack of back pressure, will I notice it? And the drone, how bad will it be? I know you guys are all pros. Thank you.

my friend did it on his sc300, sounded really good. as for performance, i'd imagine you'd lose a bit of low end, but you'd also be taking off a good bit of weight. Just take the mufflers off and drive around a bit like that and see how you like it

Snakehead; just all sound. I would mind a blt of performance. I just don't really want to lose my low end or have highway drone. But just unbolting the mufflers for a test is a great idea!

unbolting your mufflers is not going to give the same sound.

many have done both deletes on here and its gives the SC400 a nice throaty sound like the V8 should have, if you want a more defined sound and to regain your 'lost torque' have a x-pipe installed.... simple as that. otherwise deleting both without an x-pipe or y-pipe you will MAYBE notice a difference but the difference in the low end torque is minimal esp with the amount of power the stock motor makes.

Where would the Xpipe go? In place of the 3rd cat?

gotta agree ^ my friend had a sc300. no resonators and straight pipe. OHHYEAH sounded like a Muscle car, but then again he was getting harassed by the cops, quite often just My Opinion tho Sounds Super NICE!

i deleted my rear 2 resonators on my sc400, it sounded good, gave it a nice growl over how quiet the stock system was, but wasnt too loud. Shortly after that, i took my mufflers off for a little bit and it was really loud, and i could really feel it lacking in the low end compared to when i had the mufflers on.

I would suggest getting the rear resonators cut off and straight pipe welded in and see how you like it. If i got another sc400, i would do that same mod again for sure.

Check out the exhaust thread. I think (can't remember for sure) there are some pictures of an exhaust setup with an x-pipe on there. It's a really clean setup.

i got the resonator delete and the sound is really nice.. not loud enough to bother cops or passengers sounds throaty during start up and flooring it...but during normal drives sound almost stock. perfect. dont delete the mufflers for just tips you will lose power even though it sounds great it not worth it.
