Help with Searching --- and window regulators
Hi all,
I could use some help using the search on the forum. When I tried to search window regulators, it did a general search for me, instead of one sc specific. Is there a way to just search the sc forums?
Also, my passenger window doesn't work, but the motor runs. The cable that runs up inside of the window track guide, then presumably goes over a pully to connect somewhere is there, but the ensd that must go to the motor is loose in the door, Does anyone have an exploded diagram of how the regulator system works --- and maybe directions for dimantling and putting it back together. It looks to me like maybe my parts are all there, and just need to go back together.

There is a great DIY on here about fixing or replacing the regulator. Mine stopped on my 93, but mine was the motor. I replaced the entire thing, but my regulator was still good. It is listed in the SC300/SC400 classifieds on this form. Cheap, and easy to fix if your motor is still good. Let me know and I can ship out as well as walk you thru the replacement process. Dave
DONT toss the motor. ill say that first. then read the diys

As for the search, the search box at the top is a great idea, but not greatly executed.
In the sc300/400 forum, at the top-right (itll be the first blue bar below the search box and social networking links, if you use the default theme) below the main banner, is a button that says "Search this forum"

i have the same problem with my sc. my pass. side regulator is bad but the motor is still good. ive been putting it off for a while now. i read somewhere on here that there are two different regulators for the sc. so you'll need to know the part number to replace it to make sure its the right one.

My 94 SC3 had a broken regulator on the passenger side, but it wasn't broken where the sticky shows most people's break. It broke on the clip that goes around the vertical slide, and then the cable and nylon sleeve popped out of the spool connection, but nothing was broken there.
There was a 94 SC4 at the U Pull though, so I decided it would be easier to just swap in an entire reg/motor unit ($37) than try rebuilding things. The SC in the yard had the window up, and no power, and I couldn't figure out how to get the regulator out without dropping the bracket that attaches to the glass down from the glass. I wasn't sure how to do that, so just pulled the cover off the motor armature, pulled the armature out, then the reg ran free. Pulled it out, put the armature and cover back, then paid and brought the unit home.
Today, before installing it, I plugged it into the door harness, and the motor doesn't work. My old reg has a good motor, so I should be able to make a good unit out of the two (and can even return the bad motor for a credit). I'm a bit worried about doing it though. I'm not sure if that motor at the yard started out bad, or if I messed it up pulling the armature out. I couldn't find a sticky about swapping regulator motors, so wondered if someone could link me to one, or possible provide some step by step instruction.
Thanks!

That DIY isn't any help for me. I already read the entire thing. My regulator broke differently.
I did pick up a replacement regulator, motor and all, out of an SC4 of the same year as my SC3. It's a perfect match. ($37)
I'm glad I did save my motor though!
The motor on the replacement is bad.
I may have messed it up though, because I pulled the armature out to drop the regulator low enough to get it below the glass and out of the door at the U Pull. Now I'm nervous about swapping the motors between the two regs --- because I don't want to ruin the good motor. I can't find a DIY on that, so posted a new thread asking for help.
