sorry if this i in the wrong thread or a stupid question but what do these wired do? one of them is red with a blue stripe and red with a black stripe.

 

I can't see it clearly where it's attached to but it looks like it's from the solenoid. I believe it's for the power steering assist. Meaning; the faster you are the tighter the steering is, the slower you are the lighter it is to steer. Someone might need to correct me on that though.

 

I checked my manual and looks like I'm right.

 

do i really have to have it? i mean it doesnt feel like it gets tighter at higher speeds

 

From what I've read from other threads some people really cut it 'cause they don't like the weird feeling of it getting tighter, so I guess you can live without it.
