I think there might be a clearence prob. with the Carbing.

^^^^^^ I think you may be right about the Carbing..I've heard that somewhere else too...i have a Cusco from a supra works fine but,very very close 1/4" to the manifold.

Use some washers to space out the strut a little.

Ya my Carbing came with washers which allow it to clear my engine, 1999 sc400.
