Sounds like your transmission is slipping.

Well, When was the last time you had your transmission fluid changed?

The car feeling sluggish could be a vast number of things... be more descriptive of the symptoms

Bad plugs, clogged cat, bad gas, dirty air filter, dirty maf, dirty throttle plate, stuck injector, vacuum leak.

Start there and keep us updated.

If the engine revs., but the car is not moving as fast as normal it would most likely be transmission slippage.

Limp mode still points to an issue even if it was in limp mode and that's why it was slow. Pull the battery cable for an hour and see if anything changes. This will reset your ECU and all baseline settings for EVERYTHING from the MAF to the injection.

I just fixed my problem which sounds like yours. My car felt like it would not move and the transmission was slipping, but when I turned the car off and started it, it would pick up and go. I found out that it was just a clogged tranny filter. Now it runs without any issues. Hope that helps.
