Wheel spacers question(s) :)
I tried running a little search. I found out that once you get into the 15-20mm spacers, you're going to need longer studs. But I don't need anything that big
So the "OEM non-SC wheels on our cars" thread inspired me... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ost-a-pic.html
I was thinking of running Honda S2000 wheels (don't worry, I'll figure out a center cap option which doesn't involve putting the Honda "H" on a Lexus) because there are quite a few for sale in my area for CHEAP, and I think they look pretty classy. Problem is, they are VERY high offset (55mm to be exact, higher than stock) and the last thing any SC owner wants is his wheels to be even more "sunken".
I know what the hub bore is on the S2K (64.1 on the front, 70.1 on the back) and I know my own hub bore (60.1). Question is,
1. if I am going to get spacers to lower my offset a little, is it safe to run 5-10mm spacers with the stock studs?
2. Since I will also need hubcentric rings on the inside of my wheels, is it unsafe to get spacers (H&R?) designed for the S2000 and just run hubcentric rings inside of those? Or should I just be prepared to shell out some big bucks to have custom spacers made which have a 60.1mm center bore on the inside and 64.1mm on the outside?
Just trying to see if buying used S2000 wheels will even save me any money at all.
Thanks in advance
Sorry if this is hard to follow, I tried my best to explain it without drawing pictures of what I'm talking about...

your question came out perfectly, and easy to follow, but it looks like there's a dozen different s2k wheels out there, depending on year/option. which set are you looking at, in particular?
Without that info, I can go ahead and say i haven't seen a 5-10mm spacer that's hubcentric.
I ran a 10mm on the front of my car for a short, short time (had a dozen mkiii supra steelies with good tires), and was uncomfortalbe with the length of the stud, and how much thread the lug nut was grabbing...

i would buy the expesive ones with the bore size u need...problem is in the end rims, tires and spacer would have cost u the same as buying brand new wheels that r specific to ur car. spacers with specific measurements are expensive.
Ok glad that wasn't too confusing lol. Sometimes I know what I mean but just don't convey it accurately. You know how the Internet is...
I was thinking of the early s2000 wheels which are 16x6.5 ET55 up front and 16x7.5 ET55 in the rears. I should still be able run 205 width tires up front so I don't downgrade as far as traction is concerned.
I see.... Thanks. I doubt there is an off the shelf solution to spacer sizes I need so that means I'll have to have a set custom made. One place is saying it should cost about 140 bucks for ONE PAIR
so that's 280 all the way around plus the price of wheels and possibly lengthened studs.... Ouch. Adds up.
Well I tried
guess I'll just keep the wheels in the Toyota/Lexus family. Thanks guys.

Just wanted to find a set of wheels which would "refresh" the look of my car as well as be the bearers of my new tires which would make my car slightly safer (I'm not driving it right now because of this). Guess I'll keep looking...

May I suggest OEM Lexus takeoffs? such as IS350 or IS300 wheels? Even Supra TT wheels look great. I wouldnt run anything smaller than a 17" wheel. If you're in dire need of some tires, try local craigslist ads and find yourself a set for $100 that will last you at least 5k miles while you save up some more cash.

I emailed a guy about some IS300 wheels. He wants 150 OBO so I may see if he'll take somewhere around 120. He's got tires on them which look to be in slightly better shape than my current ones, kinda like you said. So I could save up some dough while making my car at least functional. I've seen them on an SC and I think they stand up pretty nice. I mean it won't be my end-all-to-end-all wheel setup, but it will keep things fresh until I go through a set of tires in 4-5 years (if I decide to put new rubber on them) and then I can upgrade once more. I will also lower the car at some point over the winter so it will probably look more complete/sporty once I get all that done.
What I really want is RPF1s, but unfortunately I have other priorities ATM (college). One day though!

I would also suggest staying away from the s2k wheels since they have weak offsets. Specially in a SC. Anyone know if spacers need to be a particular material for whatever reason? Maybe like metal because they are being torqued down and don't want a material that can easily flex or something similar? I was messing with the cnc and made a spacer. This one in particular was the first one I made and its only 1.5mm thick and made of Fr-4.
