Default 3mm Spacers - spacer uses help me out!

I’ve been looking into a set of wheel spacers lately for my rear wheels. I had 35 offset wheels fitted and they rubbed quite a bit hitting dips so I reverted back to 45 offset. I was thinking if I could get just a bit more flush using a small set of spacers it might be a worthy investment. I’ve read a few threads so far and it seems as though people run many different sizes of spacers, some with good and some with bad opinions. I definitely do not want to buy new hubs or adapters with longer studs, so I was thinking a set of hubcentric 3mm spacers would do me nicely.. just wondering what others thoughts are.. and if some people are out there running 3mm spacers it would be nice to get some feedback.. the spacers are not a necessity by any means.. my car already looks great with the offset of the wheels. I’ve ripped on people before for using spacers before so feel free to flame me if you’d like.. i feel like anything over 5mm is asking for trouble.. but I’m no expert

its been a rule of thumb that 3mm spacers would be the max to use. anything larger than that would require extended studs. this has to do with how many rotations required to tighten the lug nuts-i forget the exact number from the top of my head.

Just realized I posted this in the 1st Gen forum, could it be moved to the 2nd Gen forum please?

Thanks!

Thanks Prima, I'll have to pull off a lug nut this week and mark the nut with a sharpie and then turn it back on, see how many turns I get out of it

Been running 5mm spacers all around for years now. Been using a torque wrench to accurately torque the lug nuts every time. Never once had any issue.

Hey Sean, if you don't feel like paying big bucks for Eibach, H&R, KW, and 3.0mm is all you need you can try NovusTech spacers. I hear they are made locally in Kitchener.

Oddly enough over the weekend I dialed down the amount of rear camber in my rear suspension to gain me slightly better tire wear (just had an alignment) and with my 5mm spacers with a 35 offset on my rear wheels I'm too close to the rear fenders for comfort. So I've got on order a set of 2 3mm hub-centric spacers from these folks on ebay :

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-X-PC-HUBCENTRIC-WHEEL-SPACERS-ADAPTER-5x114-3-60-1-CB-12X1-5-3MM-TOYOTA-LEXUS/291761818596?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Hoping for a drama-free purchase and netting me enough clearance for my rear tires to not touch the fender during hard cornering.

***Oh crap, after I clicked the link again I see that they're now sold out of them!***

Thanks for the link Prima, upon first glance it doesn't look like they offer 3mm spacers though.. it appears 5 is the lowest they go.. I'll put in a request for 3mm and see if they get back to me or not

Gville - soundslike our setups are very similar haha I was thinking that a 5mm spacer would be too close for comfort as well (although my wheels are 45 offset with a 275/30/19).. hence I wanted to look into the 3mm.. good to know that you haven't had any issues running them though!!

You can add washers to the studs and check how much thickness you need before placing the order.

I run a 255/35/19 tire on a Genesis Track wheel (19x8.5 with a 35 offset), along with being lowered on BCRs and adjusted with Megan rear camber arms. So with the addition of the 5mm spacer I was essentially at a 30mm offset I was plenty safe to tuck tires. But after spinning each camber arm one full rotation, netting me additional + positive camber for more tire contact patch, I've ran into where I'm like a playing card's width from the unmolested factory fender lip. Not safe. So for now I've removed the spacer, and am just awaiting the arrival of the 3mm spacers. I'll post back up once I install them.

Sean, rolling rear fenders will give an extra 8-10mm clearance, rolling and pulling even more.
