Bondo is the devil.

Real bodymen work the metal like you are supposed to.

You can only get the metal so close. A little bondo doesn't hurt I have seen metal finish work where they lay down so much primer it starts to crack because of thickness. Bondo is good but only for so much the least the better.

yep.... it's all about working the metal like a ARTIST, so as to just be able to put a extremely thin skim of bondo where needed.(or cut out and weld in new patch panel steel) The trick....don't use a lazy inexperienced body man....period.

I totally agree.

Most SC's I've seen with rear quarter panel damage are never fixed. I did see a guy weld in a new quarter panel from another SC once though.

There's a limit how much metal can take when it comes to pushing and pulling, it gets weaker and weaker the more you work on it. The best thing is to cut and replace it....beter yet ,cut it out and install wide body fenders

There have been some great diy quarter p[anel repairs done on here.

Most recently someone cut out just the damaged area of his quarter panel and then welded in an exact cut out from a different quarter panel.

Unfortunately I think it is next to impossible to do a proper repair without using bondo.

The better your repair, the less bondo you will have to use for finishing.

badly damage rear qtr panels ( on ANY car)....your best bet...cut it out and weld in new metal from another SC. Have a good body guy do the cutting and welding and skim the welding seam with bondo. With a proper repair you should not be able to tell from new. It all starts from the start.....a GREAT body guy....period..... and then a great painter.

Everything is "easy" when you know what you are doing and have the proper tools/experience.

Body Filler and Primed

Sanded and Preped for Paint

Painted

Two...
