Wink How Do I make my Check engine light work, 1jz swapped

I bought my '95 Sc300 with a 1jz swap in it. It was done well, no real issues I took it apart to clean the entire motor and cleaned it up. When I bought it I noticed the check engine light never turned on even when the car started. I took the cluster out today to see if someoen removed the light or if it was burnt out. The bulb is good, and it is not burnt out.

I really want to get the wires connected so I can get the check engine light to work so I can run codes if I ever have an issue.. has anyone else encountered this before, or know where I should begin to look? Thanks a lot!

I find that it's best to be prepared

I have close to 20 threads saved that I have reviewed on doing the 1JZ swap you should see my notes and parts list on my iPhone. It's a little OCD but it covers damn near everything

I need to do a couple things to my 1J, so I may have to pick your brain.

any chance you saved the notes on how to wire up the CEL? The OP lost his pictures with the write up..... Did a 2JZ swap on my 4runner. My JDM engine has a USDM 1JZ harness. Thanks in advance!!!

You mean it has a USDM 2JZ-GTE harness? The U.S. and Canada never got any 1JZ-GTE engines in any vehicles for official sale. Grey imports and engine importers are the only source of 1JZ's in the Americas.

For the USDM 2JZ-GTE Supra Turbo engine harness (1993-1998) the Check Engine Light wire is located on Supra Body Plug II1, Pin 15. On your Toyota 4Runner you'd wire that into the CEL wire location on the appropriate 4Runner body plug. You'll need the appropriate year 4Runner electrical wiring diagrams and/or body plug pinout cheat sheet to determine that for the truck.
