I also think they were available at the customer's request. Most of the SC's with the Nakamichi stereo, traction control, sunroof, and heated seats are generally SC400's with chrome emblems.

Well I figured out how to check if your gold package was dealer installed

. Go on lexus.com and register your car. It will pull all of the lexus service history. First two items on mine:

Dealer Reported 01/19/1994 Scottsdale Lexus 2 0042633 INSTALL GOLD KIT WITH TIPS
Dealer Reported 01/19/1994 Scottsdale Lexus 2 0042633 INSTALL CHROME WHEELS
