ok so im having sum issues with my brakes. the car literally wont stop in the snow what so ever i put new pads all around and new rotors in the back and ran all new lines but for sum reason i dont think my back brakes are gettin enough pressure so they barely hit when i brake, my trac and cel lights are on as well as the trac off light and it wont turn on but i thot this had to with o2 sensors? do you think id need a new brake master cylinder?
also second question, i did searches and im confused, do we have 2 or 4 o2's? i have a 92 sc400 i tried jumping the port for codes but the cel nvr blinks only on overdrive light flashes
^^^^^What he said...I had a 240 with the "Z"brake upgrade complete with the master cylinder, and since the brakes were made for a heavier car, naturally the car stopped faster...But in the snow it just locked the wheels up...try pumping your brakes when you slide...
Do you got All season Tires? or M/S tires? How much snow are we talkin about and Do you find it easy to slip when walking on it? IM not doubting the fact that you might need a new Brake cylnder but Winter driving has its moods lol.
Im driving around a Little Toyota Hatch with m/s tires on right now and I consider my self to be a pretty experianced winter driver being from boston and having lived in germany for almost 8 years... But this morning for instance I was Braking into a intersection perfectly fine avbout the last 6 feet into the stop line the car just slid right across the intersection thank god there was not cars coming... but under the snow I was driving on was a good bit of ice and Reguardless of tires or brakes the car did what it wanted too...
But if you are fairly confident that with anyother car on the same roads would stop better than yours... Process of elimination is leading you to that Brake cylnder? I would say what do you got to loose, all new brake system sounds good to me =D
1992 sc400 = horrible in the snow.. My brakes are fine and when it snowed here I couldn't get traction for sh!%.. My advice to you is ride the metro or get a ride.
