Default Start up issue.

92 SC400 1uz-FE

I replaced the Water pump and timing belt, before i changed them the belt was fine and the Water pump was just leaking a little. So the engine fired up and i was able too drive. So i went ahead and took her apart and replaced. Now everything is back together except i haven't put coolant fluid or engine fan fluid in yet. I try too start her up and i can hear a couple exhaust notes coming from the back but she wont start? I checked the grounds, cleaned spark plugs, can even smell gas. Checked all my fuse's and made sure i plugged all vacuum lines, and wire cables in. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Sounds like your timing might be way off.

It cant be, the service manual showed all the marks, and every mark is on by the notch. could it be something too do with the grounds?

Do you actually have any spark? Pulling the high tension lead and holding about a half inch gap while someone cranks should produce nice fat sparks.

Also, is the battery fully charged? Sometimes there's enough amperage to crank the engine, but not enough actual voltage to trigger the ignition.

Just trying to throw out some ideas. I hope you get it sorted out.

yea i already had checked the idea with the spark plugs. shes good too go. And the battery thought i have been thinking about. even if i get jumped or charge it, do you still think its the battery? its quite new. Ah maybe ill go blow 77 bucks just too check. Thanks. I have a feeling its something that i might have not plugged back in while putting back together. A ground or a wire. Any ideas what that could be about? thanks -Drew

Bought a new battery, she deffinitly turns over fast enough now. She is sputtering out the exhaust, everything sounds right. Onlything i noticed weird was the doors locking and unlocking as i try too start. I think there might be some kind of electrical issue, anyone have a clue?

Is it possible that your cam sensor is 180 degrees out?

I don't have the problem you have, but it still sounds like a timing issue. I found this post in case it is of any help to you:

Thank you, i posted on that link. Hopefully this can get resolved. Been over a month since any progress. I am 99.9% sure its not the timing, its set exactly too what the service manual said. Is there some wire or something that might make this happen if not properly plugged in? Everything seems normal except my electrical.
