I am picking up a 92 SC300 tonight. I have never owned a Lexus before. I have a Q45 I love, but was looking for a car with a manual gearbox, that was cheap but good quality. The car has 153,000 miles on it. It seems pretty solid and tight. Headlights are full of condensation wich seems to be a common problem. Also rpm needle doesn't light up.Any fixes for these? Other than that, the car is straight as an arrow.
Welcome, seems like a fair price to me.....Just do some searches for what you're looking for you will find many detailed answers ....(common problems by the way)...
...speaking for those of us that paid a WHOLE lot more for our used SC's several years ago, only to see them depreciate down to values like that, all I can say is "no, that's not very fair at all!"
But congrats on your deal and welcome to the club, anyways.
I just cleaned, sealed, & polished my headlights yesterday. It rained last night, & no condensation in the morning! So it seems like it worked. But if you want any help w/ the process feel free to send me an IM or PM if you want.
I am home with the SC300. Great car! After looking in the owners manuals I have come to the conclusion that the previous owner took good care of the car. Every oil change, scheduled maint. ,repairs, tire rotations, are all logged in the maintenance book most with dealer stamps. Going to tackle the headlight problem this weekend.
Also had to race the Mark and the Q. I drove the SC, my wife drove the Mark & Q (automatics).
Beat the mark, not by much.
Lost to the Q, not by much.
Both races up to about 85mph.
Welcome SBJ, so you got yourself an SC300 5-speed? Great car, great price. The headlight is an easy fix, the needle light shouldn't be too tough either. Once you turbo that bad boy, you'll be singing a different tune.
i agree with the others in that that's a really, really, favorable price for the buyer...assuming it has no problems, which is almost always a safe bet, you got yourself a great deal.
