Default Why Hello Long lost friends

Whats going on guys, I know its been a while since any of you have last seen me around here. For those of you who don't know, I drive a 3 series now and my mom picked up my SC400.

So she's having a little issue with the door. I'm not looking for a thread on how to fix the door hinge cause I can search for that but I'm just wondering if this is an electrical issue or not. As of today, NOT yesterday, but today, the outside door handle doesn't work, and if you roll down the window halfway it stops, and the door pops open. My little brother discovered that at 40mph this afternoon...Is this electrical or is this another case of that stupid issue with the door handle that every SC ever made gets at one point in its life like the chicken pox.

And for all of you that remember me, post here! It'd be great to hear from all of you.

yes, very common problem, stop rolling the window down immediately, a small plastic piece connecting the door handle to the opener broke, the rod dropped down and gets in the way of the window when it lowers, hence the door opening, but if it breaks, you need a whole new assembly. You can probably still bend yours back. Im sure you can find the part number with a search.

I had this same thing happen to my last SC. It's very common. There's a thread with the part number. It's for a small plastic tab for a camry. It cost's like $2.

Don't try rolling down the window until it's fixed. You have to remove the door panel and pull back the clear plastic and reinstall the metal arm in the hole with the new tab. You can temporarily fix it by fitting the metal arm through the hole and putting a ziptie on the tip so it doesn't fall back out.

If it's bent and you bend it back but it's not perfect, it may still fall out even with the plastic tab. The ziptie trick will work though.

haha! How you doing brother? I know I went to the dark side, and for that I apologize. I couldn't help but change to a 5 speed manual though. Best of luck in looking at one for the wife.

It was good talking to you yesterday. The BMW's looking clean! I'd love to get a BMW some day. I'd gladly leave the SC for an 850CSI or an 650CI...

How's your mom liking the SC400? My mom wants my SC, but it's too cool for her.

You just broke a $300 part by rolling down that window.
