HELP! SC4 door issues
HELP! SC4 door issues
hey the door on my SC just decided to break today, it will not open from the inside or outside, the window will only open half way, and this is the most random thing I have yet to see on my SC go wrong, im going to take it to the dealer but is there anything i could do? what can they do? thanks

it seems like more of something in the door handle, it is totally loose theres no resistance, and the inside one just wont open it either, but you can hear loose stuff in the door? but the hinge? what would make that go bad so suddenly?

My bad....my first crack at this was a mistake...I thought you said the DOOR only opens half way.
What happen is that you busted the door cable somewhere.
To fix it you will need to dissemble the door from the inside.
This is going to be a tough ordeal without being able to open the door at all.
try unlocking the door with the key....then open from the outside....
If this doesn't do the job...then try to get the door panel off and check the pull cables from the inside release lever.

Its not the cable.
Its the metal "rod" that connects the cable to the outside handle assembly (another rod).
What happened is a SMALL plastic joint broke off. All you have to do is goto TOYOTA (not lexus...) and ask them for one and say its for a Tercel or something. They will probably have to "order" you one even though they have tonnes in the back...
DO NOT roll down your windows anymore, you can risk bending the rod and even damaging the window, tracks or motor.
I don't have pictures of the the two rods, but I do have a plastic clip lying around. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it.
