Tire Blow Out
I had my rear passenger tire blow out on the freeway earlier today on my way to class. Was wondering if anyone has ever had this kind of blow out before? Or any problem with the Michelin Pilot Sport II tires?

Interesting... I had a set of Michelen Pilot SXs is 235/40/18 and 325/30/18 on the supra a couple years back. My front right tire blew out exactly like that. They tires were maybe 5 years old, nothing crazy and had decent tread left. I got rid off all four of them after that blow out put my sideways on a crowded highway going 65. Don't know how I got out there without hitting anyone. They spent their last few minutes of life doing a 60 second burnout behind the discount tire my buddy worked at before they were swapped for some Falken RT-615s.
I've run Michelin Pilot Sports (not the II's) on a few different cars over the years and never had ANY problems with them other than treadlife. The fact that you got them used on eBay is a huge red flag for unknown variables to me. WHen you say they were properly inflated at the time, that may well be so, but you can't know for sure that your sidewalls weren't already weakened by the previous owner driving them while under-inflated or ridiculously stretched. Totally sucks that it happened though. Sorry for you.
EDIT: I just remembered that my wife did have one blow out on her, but it was after she hit a curb, heard a strange hissing sound, and then drove 10 miles home. It blew out like 200 yards from our driveway.
I never considered that the fault of the tire though, but maybe they do have fragile/easily damaged sidewall.

It's alright, it's just a tire no damage to the car or myself. It's the risk you take when you buy used tires. This is actually the first blown tire I've ever had so I'd say I have a pretty good track record in knowing when it's time to switch tires or the quality of tires I buy. Stuff happens you live, you learn.
