Truth be told, it makes far less difference what brand oil you use than it does what regularity you change your oil with. Any reasonably priced oil that meets the manufacturer's SAE spec and is suited for the climate you live in is fine, so long as you change it routinely. In general, synthetics can last 1-1/2 to 2+ times longer than regular oils, so calculate your intervals accordingly. Use a better quality filter (ie. NOT Fram!) and you'll be fine. There are endless pissing matches on the internet comparing one brand vs. another; at the end of the day, very few car owner keep their car long enough to realize the significance of ANY advantages of the very best oils over the cheapest that meets the required spec.
$.02
That being said, I generally use whatever Costco has on sale or Mobil-1 synthetic (depending on which car) and a Wix/Napa Gold filter

I would only use royal purple or Mobil 1, you can't beat the quality and reputation, they are that well known, and talked about for a reason. Don't be cheap and get the **** stuff, because youll change it frequently, spend the cash.
