Default 50k Oil Change

It is time for the 50k oil change on our 02 RX300. I am considering the switch to synthetic, do you guys reccomend mobil 1? If not, what do you reccomend? How often do I have to change the oil with the synthetic? The oil filter? (Sorry, I am new to this stuff) Thanks in advance

Mobil 1 or Amsoil are the two top choices. 5W-30 grade as your car is not quite ready for 5W-40 or 5W-50.

For your oil filter, I highly recommend the K&N oil filter (model number HP-1002), but your Lexus/Toyota filter will do you just about as good.

Oil filter should be changed every time you change the oil. With synthetic under normal driving conditions, I have heard 5,000 miles on synthetic, though I have switched to a 3,000 mile schedule.

Really? We have been doing oil changes at 5k with regular oil. (dealer reccomended). I was hoping that synthetic oil would allow me to go with longer intervals.

I used Mobil 1 5w20 for better startup protection (lower viscosity for better lubrication) and Purolator pure one because of its synthetic fiber filter 10-20 micro particles. I am on 10K change interval based on an oil test study that Mobil 1 lasts 12K with a change of filter around 5K. Change interval is based on your usage and condition. Lexmex races on track in Mexico, I am sure how he uses his RX is very different than other owners.

I am in michigan - with the cold winter coming up soon. Should I just stick with the 5k interval? It is a leased car - I was just wondering so I could just finish off with one more oil change instead of having to take it in twice more. (I will drive it about 10k more miles before turning it in). I know it seems like a minor thing, but I am so busy I would rather take it in for service once more and be done with it rather than twice over the next few months.
