Guys,
I have a 92 SC300 and the key I have is in bad shape. The metal at the base has basically split into 2 pieces. I have been looking on ebay and I can match the FCC number, but all the keys on there have already been cut. Do most people buy these used ones on ebay for the transponder inside? Or how does it work? Anyone know how much Lexus charges for a blank?
Thanks,
Jonny

Sorry I can't help u much, other than I couldn't find a matching FCC-ID remote for my missing one either. I tried calling that 1 place on eBay that seems like they have a huge stock pile but it was always busy when I called (fraud maybe? Who knows..). When I called the Lexus stealership they quoted me $700 for a new key with remote for my old '95!!!
I say take ur key into a locksmith and see what they can do, they're usually pretty good with this kinda stuff..

Like scENFORCER said, the Lexus stealership will charge an arm and a leg. When I had to get another key made (after I misplaced my original). The parts guy told me that it would be around $400.oo to get another key with the remote. His reason was due to reprogramming the key and the chip was super expensive alone.
As long as you have the original lock cylinders in your vehicle it's like $54.xx. They cut the key by the vin number. Good luck with your Key find, Dx3

ya I just ordered a few blanks on ebay and had them cut at the dealer, I also work there which might help but It cost me 30 bucks maybe? your car is a 92 so it most likely doesn't have a transponder. mines a 97 and it didn't have it. so you don't need to program anything unless you get a new keyless portion.

The dealership. If you want an authentic "Lexus" key with the remote on the side the dealer is your only option. Personally I'd just spent the 20-30 bucks and get the ilco key to have a spare.
