actually you can use the first mobile hydraulic puller you used to pull that inner bearing race from the hub, just grab that little edge of it, without squeezing onto the surface the seal rides on. once the race moves a bit, you can tighten the puller to grab more of the edge....i do it all the time, works great

I bought my last Koyo bearing off ebay, could have been a fake, or installed wrong but it only lasted a year and a half. I'd recommend buying the bearings from Rockauto or another reputable source. Koyo even has a "Stop Fake Wheel Bearings" video on their website so it must be a real problem.

 

Although it's always a good idea to use a name bearing from a reputable source, I suspect your early failure is less about the bearing choice and more about the technique, grease, or repair method. No bearing should have failed that quickly, even if a cheap knock off.

I did mine this past Saturday on my 2nd gen GS 300. It was not that bad, but I have a shop press too. Also replaced the LCA bushings in front too with SpeedPro Poly bushings, plus upper control arm and lower ball joint and sway bar end link. The wheel bearing replacement for the average garage mechanic is a daunting task at best. Oddly the thing that almost sidetracked the whole job was the frustratingly almost impossible to remove snap ring. I got lucky on that one after probably 60 tries at it with 3 different snap ring tools. It was a game of chance and I won after a lot of effort. I probably tackled too much for one afternoon, but it all worked out in the end after 11 1/2 hours of wrenching.

Will replacing them ruin an alignment?

 

The inner race comes off fairly easily if you heat it. Although I have oxy/acet, I used a small propane torch.

 

No, not if you don’t remove the control arms or adjust the tie rod.
