Is it worth it to find the SC you want in a Manual? Or is the swap pretty easy? Theres one that's finally really really close to me and being sold at a dealer. But it's an automatic. So, balpark cost? Skill level? What do you guys think?

If you plan on boosting, it wouldn't really matter since you will most likely be getting a new tranny.

But if your just going to DD, some light mods it will probably pay off unless $ isn't a huge issue (it's not even that expensive IMO) and you have a couple of mechanical know how friends that know how to read a DIY.

All depends on what you want to do and if your willing to justify paying the premium for a 5spd.

*EDIT* Also assuming your talking about the 300, but if your looking at a DD, consider swapping the W58 into the 400.
RedPhoenix swapped it in pretty easily and a 5spd V8 sounds pretty damn sweet.

Search up his thread or google quantum auto

Good luck!

Nah, I'm all about the sc300, I plan on boosting, but not for a while. It'll be a sorta project but DD. Just build it slowly but surly. I really want a 5spd, so I guess I'll try to find one. I've already been talking to one guy about buying his, but I gotta sell my truck first.

Haha, I hear you man.

Had a choice between a 95 blk/blk 5spd or auto, took the auto since it was cheaper and interior was cleaner.

BLK/BLK & 5spd really jacks the prices up :/

Didn't someone just price up a complete 5spd conversion package here the other day? Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I thought it came out to like $2k all together.

GL on your search for one that's all I can say. The ones I been seeing around my area have mostly been salvaged title. There was a decent one that's going around 4500 with the engine already replaced.

It really depends on the difference in price when you find an auto and a manual. After that you can add into the cost of boosting and switching to manual to see which one would be cheaper.

i bought an 95 automatic sc300 w/black interior once and sold it 1/2 year later for a 95 manual sc300 in tan. The original plan was to swap the auto, but once I factored in the price of parts and labor and the headache involved, it came out to be about the same price as the 5spd, and the 5spd one was about 10x cleaner all around. if you get a really sweet deal on an auto then it could be worth it, but i can't imagine you getting a good price at a dealer.

its a good feeling knowing you have a stock original 5spd from manufacturer but again good luck, hope you just get a good deal and end up happy, simple as that

I say wait it out. It took me nearly 8 months to find my 5 speed SC. I was initially going to buy a DWP 5 speed with black interior for $5500 but the guy sold it to someone else that offered him a little more than what he was asking. 3 weeks later, I paid $3400 for my 5 speed. Its a high mileage vehicle but overall the car is clean.
