Im saving up this summer to do one of three things: Xspower turbo, a manual swap, or a new paint job. I am leaning towards the manual swap because it seems the most practical. What do you guys think?

About how much would the entire swap be? Im guessing around $4,000 because i cant install it myself.

If your looking for good high power dont go manual yet. The tranny wouldnt be able to handle the power, unless you get the r154 tranny.

These cars are pretty underpowered. I'd sacrifice the tranny and go with boost. Its going to cost you alot more than the 5speed swap but you wont regret it.

if you want turbo, you're gonna have to swap the transmission anyway. cant have one without the other if you want a reliable setup in a turbo car. stock auto trans will only hold about 300whp.

Think about this: Swapping to a manual transition will get you about 10% more power at the wheels, but if you boost your motor, you will have WAY more power at the wheels, despite the slushbox.

Despite the fact your trying to get me boosted, you had me sold at 10% more power! lol I didnt expect to get any... Definitly going to swap, probally a r154. does anybody know if i could I get one done with labor for like $3000? (no tools, lift, experience, etc. wish i could do it myself)

Turbo would be alright but eventually you will want to do a motor swap any way so i would just go manual and have fun. Theres some cheap manual swaps in the classified section anyway. You could prolly go manual and turbo for 4g.

I dropped a 5 speed in mine and wound up yanking it out and selling the whole tranny swap for $800- took a loss but those tranny's just won't hold. I'd go with the r154- I've heard they hold around 700whp. Choose how you want to build the car and then add something you won't have to replace.

Learn how to do it yourself and manual swap it. Paying labor on a custom project like that is just insane.
