Default W58 Swappage

Update on w58 swappage including actual photos of the real parts (for the phoenix of redness). Its on track for a pretty quick finish overall.

Exhaust and driveshaft removed. Exhaust came with one special little bolt that was extra fun to remove, and one cat seems to have been mutilated internally. For now the car is just hangin out on jackstands in the driveway awaiting assistance with dropping the auto (unless I get extra ambitious and decide to do it myself), and I need a diagram of the sc300 clutch pedal assembly. If anyone has it email me at ksteckba@mail.usf.edu! Hopefully the swap will be completed wednesday when the sc300 driveshaft arrives thanks to alexna-t. Then the shift mod will have to be fabbed up. Big thanks to the Quantum-Auto guys, Matt and Jake, for making my manual SC400 dreams start coming true.

Car hangin

Auto driveshaft out. Hopefully the one on the way is in as good of condition.

Newly empty space

Ugly auto rump

Actual parts in my possession to accompany the trans

The two magic parts from Quantum-Auto.com

And of course, the mkIII w58 (with desirable steel sandwich plate) I'll be using

Clear the runway...hopefully I remember where to put everything.

Glory hole

We are gonna extend the goose neck on the mkIII shifter and then shorten the height of the shifter to negate the extended throw.

haha...not yet. Besides, you have to raise your car up first.

Not a drop spilled

Reaching those pesky flex-plate bolts.

Started hollowing out my cats because they are both mutilated internally and clogging the exhaust. Got some in the eye somehow (yes I was wearing eye protection) and gave up on that fun for now. Eventually I will replace them...maybe.

Need super extensions to reach the bellhousing bolts.

Haha. I wish we had fast cars like that. Nah, we are gonna get our SCCA licenses there in June or July I think so we can get down on some track days.

Auto out

New clutch and Quantum-Auto 1uz flywheel in

Quantum-Auto 1uz bellhousing adapter, Howe bearing, and clutch lines installed

My new "clean" hole. Shifter will of course have to be extended because I got a mkIII w58 instead of the SC300 w58 a fellow club lexer said he was selling me. jackass. Too bad he lives so far away.

Transmission in. The book is between the SC400 trans cross-member and the w58 temporarily til we can create a mount since the mkIII mount wont work. Thanks again to that special friend .

SC300 driveshaft in.

Got the super-spring into this thing with my bare hands. Zero tools. Matt (phoenixred) pushed the bolt through for me.

Hopefully only a few more days til I get to drive it!
