trans - 200
sc300 manual driveshaft - 175
howe throwout bearing - 150
master cylinder - 75
oem clutch kit - 140
shifter trim - 50
clutch/manual brake pedal set new and marlin crawler bushings from driftmotion - 300 or good luck finding the pedals used
Quantum-Auto kit (flywheel,adapter,clutch lines,howe spacer) - 750
*Or you could upgrade and get the above parts from quantum plus a dual friction clutch kit for 1150. Having never experienced their clutch before I thought it would be extremely stiff so I opted for the oem style. Little did I know how soft the oem feels! Then I felt the quantum clutch in someone else's car and the pedal wasn't that stiff at all. It felt like what I imagined the oem would.

So, 1850 with the cheap clutch or 2110 with a much better clutch. I estimated the shipping costs on some of those that I couldn't remember but it should be very close.

I"m curious as to how you go the bolts into that new trans mount. The bolts that from the mount into the transmission it looks like the SC400 part gets in the way of the holes on the mkIII part

We welded the fat bolt [that connected the two parts of the MKIII mount together] to the top plate of the MKIII mount [in its original location] and I drilled a hole through the top of the SC's mounts so that the bolt would slide into it. Then, I attached the MKIII plate to the trans followed by attaching the SC mount to that plate via the "fat bolt". Hopefully that is described well enough.

Oh yea, I never updated this thread to say that the oem clutch was a no go. It couldn't take the v8. I broke it in well past the required mileage span, but it started slipping. So I installed a quantum-auto clutch and she's been good ever since. I just wish I had been smart from the beginning.

As long as you have tall stands it's not that bad at all.

I used a mechanical to electronic speed sensor adapter from Marlin Crawler for the VSS.

It threads onto the MKIII VSS and connects to the stock SC harness.

thanks! just what i wanted to hear. i was worried about the clutch being too stiff....i just wanted to read a review of someone who also had that fear experience the clutch. that makes me feel better.
i'm cool with a stiffer clutch, i just dont want to kill my left leg.

i had 2nd thoughts of that howe bearing after reading about people having issues with it...but it was nice to go back to the quantum-auto site to see that they've replaced that piece of the kit.

i would totally buy that basic steel flywheel kit.
i need to first work on getting the car first. lol.
