Default Spare key

How do you go about getting a spare key for my lexus sc400. Do I need to go to a dealership to get this? Or can I get an uncut key like the one below and just go to my local home depot or walmart and have the key cut? Or does it have to be done at the dealership?

Depending the year of your SC400, I have a 1993 SC400 with no chip in key, and I paid $20 or $25 dollar. Check with your local locksmith first, dealer usually charge a lot more.

I got a key and had it cut for $20. I have a 1997 SC300. It is not the key with the remote, but a spare key. It still starts the ignition

Sure you can get an aftermarket key.... but the OEM options aren't bad for spares. Check this out:

OEM Wallet key- $57 cut to your vin:

Wallet key holder:
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...-1994-312.html

Non remote OEM key- $78 cut to your vin:
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...-1994-345.html

just some alternatives if you want the OEM goodies- I just ordered a wallet key I'm pretty excited for
