noOb needs help
i've recently replaced my sc4's engine and now i cant get it to crank, i've tried jumping the starter relay and doesnt work either. as far as i know i got everything hooked up. i've searched and found the anti theft deal but thats not it. all my grounds are hooked up as i double checked it. the dash lights goes dim as i go into start position, my battery is good also. thanks for you time, any help will be apreciated
What happens when you jump the starter relay? What exactly is happening? Just the dash lights dimming? Does it crank? Does it click? If yes, just once or repeatedly?

I dont think i got power to the relay, i just jumpered it with out the relay and still nothing. no clicks. i guess i might have to check out the ignition switch or something maybe?
Did you remember to plug your ECU back in?
Jonny

i've finally got off my lazy *** to take another shot on fixing the car. i've manually jump the starter with no luck. with the key on the dash lights are all funtioning fine but when in crank posistion it gets dim with without cranking. i've noticed that the fuel pump does not turn on when i turn the key on. hopefully some one here got a idea of what plug i'm missing or something because i've looked over and over and i'm really getting frustrated
It sounds like you have a starter issue. if everything else is working and I'm assuming all your fuses are good then it should have no reason to not crank or at least try to turn. In all my years working at lexus ive never seen an sc with a bad ignition cylinder. and seeing that you just put a different engine in it. The lights dim because of a load, so either you have high internal resistance in your starter wire harness or you have high resistance in the starter. the car started before you put the engine in it right, well that mostly rules out the relay, and possibly the harness unless you just replaced that as well.
you also wont hear the fuel pump running all the time in the on position and the car not running, it only builds pressure to get the car started and then starts to run in the crank position and when it sees a crank signal and in the on position.
