Default Need help and advice regarding window regulator and motor!!!

hey guys, so my 92 sc300 driver side window crapped out on me overnight, the driver side window goes down, but it won't go back up unless i put it up manually, and when i drive the window goes down by itself, i took off the door panel and it looks like its still on the track, does this mean the motor is bad??? or is it the regulator?? or is it both??? any advice or help is greatly appreciated!!!

It's the regulator. It's gonna run u a lil over $100. Have fun putting it in. It's gonna be a pain in the *** but I'll be worth it. Took me about 50 min and I'm stupid

It sounds like the regulator only because you said the window still went down…

It’s not that easy to fix thou it took me a minute to get it together this from a guy that has installed engines and transmissions for years.

Go to harbor freight and get a suction cup with a locking handle and use it to hold up the window until you are ready to do the repair. I actually got locked out and had to call for help with one of these on mine…lol

The motor itself and the rail are fine. Theres a small plastic tab that holds in the window in place. This piece most likely broke. Do yourself a favor and just purchase a new set rather than trying to repair it. Ive tried repairing mine with the JB method and it doesnt hold. The only thing I can see working is drilling a hole and inserting a thick piece of wire (like a coat hanger), then jb welding around it.

Here's a test to see if this fix could help you: You say the window will go up manually, I imagine you mean you pull it back up with your hands? If so, can you then hear your window motor work to pull the cable up to the top with the window? Then as stated, the plastic tab is probably broken.

If you're up to a little work (maybe less than the actual regulator replacement ordeal) you could try to fix it like I did:

It's been nearly two months and working fine. I don't even think about the window problem any more.
