Tokico HP w/Espelir
Now that my setup settled up with my tokico blues w/espelir springs, I must admit that my old setup (KYB all around even with stock shocks all around w/espelir) was better for me.
My front tires did not use to rub along the chassis where the harness goes both on the driver/passenger side.....
Just thought I let you guys know...
Sorry Hil, buddy... Good move on your part selling the shocks/struts. I did think it was a good buy on my part as well. I've been daily driving the car. Maybe my wheels/tires are not the right setup for tokico.
..... As it stands, the top of my front tire are literally like 1" clearance from the harness / hood latch cable.... It was probably the same when I had stock shocks and with the KYB, but it never rubs as far as I recall.

Buy the tokicos and kyb and try it for yourself. Maybe you'll have a different experience. Per my signature there, I installed the tokico on 2/12/10. Its been a month. I barely put mileage on the SC. Work is 5miles away so thats 10 miles round trip. I switch between the SC and my truck so there is probably about 200 miles on the tokicos right now and that is what i've been experiencing with it at the moment.... Anyway, the KYB's were gone. That is what the car came with when I bought it last year.... oh well.
The shocks shouldn't make a difference since it wouldn't lower the car even more. The Espelirs along with the 20's are causing your problems like you stated in your OP. The espelirs is a significant drop compared to stock and the 20's makes the wheel/tire that much closer to the fender on top of the lowered stance. Try relocating the harness and then push the fender liner up as high as you can. Also, remove the screw holding the fender liner at the top. My tires ripped them out even when I was at stock height. I'm dropped lower than espelirs with my 19's now and I only rub on dips, bumps, and on hard cornering. Hope this helps
Read my first post carefully... I had KYB w/espelir before. I did not have the problem or at least not noticeable when I was driving the car with that setup. Maybe the KYB was stiffer than the tokico? Tokico's are gas shocks. I don't recall if KYBs are the same or are they hydrolic fluid on there? I forget.. Anyway, i'm jJust reporting my experience between the two.... Again, other people might have a different experience.... Liners were already gone the day I got the car. Yes, I should relocate the harness.
Sum up... the only difference between my before and after setup was from KYB to Tokico.

Yeah, thats what I thought which is why I bought it heheheee..... I have been thinking and saving on a set of 18" with higher profile tire for daily use and comfort tho. Its hard to find one with the right offset. A used set at least for a good price hahahahaa..... Oh, and I don't want to use spacers either.

From my experience, the KYB's on other cars were MUCH stiffer than the Tokico HP's. That would explain why you're rubbing.
My old eclipse had KYBs and Tokico HP's on it, both with Eibach Prokits. It rode like crap on the KYB's (hard, harsh), and rode like butter with the HP's (much softer, smoother).

hmm interesting.... I never rubbed on my 19's with tokico HP's on espelirs maybe its your 20's but then again you never rubbed with kybs on your 20's... very interesting. Plus I always thought kyb GR-2's was the somewhat OEM replacement shocks and a lot of people always had them blow if dropped more then the recommended drop height stated by kyb.
i'm running KYB-GR2 with my espelir springs and i think if I had 20's it would rub for sure. I honestly think it just the spring nothing to do with ur shocks. I had used shocks on new springs and i have been riding on springs for almost a year and my car is deff lower than the first week i put on the springs
