Looking for a late V8...
I've searched this forum and found mixed reviews but not an exact answer. I want to know what is the latest UZ engine that will work in a 92 SC400 and/or what will be needed???
Keep in mind i'm going for minimal modification.

if your going for minimal modification any non vvti 1uz from a SC will drop in.
If you want a newer motor like the vvti or a 2uz or 3uz, some modification will be involved.

IMO I would go with a 2uzfe (4.7). All you need is the short block. And reuse your factory 1uzfe heads and intake. That way it is still plug and play on the wiring harness. And with the larger stroke you will get a heck of an increase in low rpm torque. Pluse more HP through out the rpms.

I saw some on Ebay. Complete engines, the cheapest I saw was $1200. Look around at junk yards, I found 3 around where I live, $600 if i pull the motor myself. That is what I plan on doing in a few months. Im buying a complete engine, when I pull the 2uz heads I plan on installing a thinner head gasket to raise compression for a bit more punch as well. I almost forgot you will need new motor mounts. But thouse can be bought at Lextreme.
