Stripped starter bolt, what to do?
Hey guys,
So, I've done everything in the process of changing out my starter on my SC4....everything up until removing it. I knew I needed a crows foot wrench to complete the task, but decided to see what I was able to do. I removed the left starter bolt and was on my way to the right! I felt for it before I went to remove it and noticed that the bolt head has been stripped some, but was confident the crows foot wrench would prevail.
So, the car was sitting for a little while I sourced a crowfoot wrench. I found one (I would rather not buy this set) today and proceeded on with the process.
Well, it seems as if the crows foot wrench wont get a hold of it either
What would my best options be in removing this bolt?
edit: I just noticed how this is not in the appropriate sub-section. Sorry!

Well, I planned on getting an OEM rebuild kit from lexus. Would I be able to do the rebuild w/ it still on?? :\
Thank you for the quick reply.
Also, I didn't strip it. I can say I added to it, but the thing was like butter my first time around anyways. (: haha

The bolt extractor would be my first choice considering I want to do it right, BUT the crows foot adapter is needed because you can't fit something like a traditional socket, muchless a bolt extractor, around the right bolt.
I'm going to see about rebuilding it w/ it on.

man. i had this happen.. i tried the darn bolt extractors.. ALL of them.. i ended up having to take a dremel tool and grinding off the head of the bolt. then after that i just slid off the part.. it was the transmission in my case. then just replaced the bolt. it took all lil bit of time and a lot of patience and elbow grease. hope this helps.
