Air intake price differences - WTF?
Lots of people I know into various kinds of car customization have air intakes. I know the inherent value of an air intake and I'd like to start my performance mods there on my 92 stick SC. So I'm looking around online, and the K&N's go for about 50-70 depending on where you get them from, with another 10-20 for shipping. No problem. But there's also these injen systems that go for up to 300-350 even. They look similar, have similar components and accomplish the same thing.
I know to a certain extent you get what you pay for, but how much is that true when it comes to intakes? What do most of you have on your SC's?
I'm almost surely gonna go with the K&N cause 300 bucks buys me front and rear rotors and pads, which are more important to me.

don't waste your money on aftermarket intakes. the stock intake does just fine at pulling cold air from the front of the car and keeping hot air from the engine out. install a nice high flow filter and call it a day.
Remember you are driving a Lexus. Aftermarket parts made for our cars are priced higher than other makes because demand is low and since we are sporting the "L" badge, we can "afford" a $300 piece of aluminum tube that is no different than the ones they sell for Hondas.
u guys are all wrong.
just search "BFI"
or get the apex'i intake from an 87-92 supra turbo or non turbo they both fit sc3/4 mafs 92-97
and i know this cause ive done it on both my cars

BFI will be the cheapest and most effective a giving power gains. If you want something more modified looking but also nice get a intake pipe made up, get it powder coated as stainless absorbs heat like you wouldnt believe, get a decent air filter, get a cold air box, feed the box with fresh cold air from the from bumper. BFI is a lot easier and cheaper than the second route. The main thing is that you want to achieve good air filtration aswell as keeping air intake temp as low as possible. A new intake pipe with an aftermarket filter will actually cause loss of power over the factory airbox due to the ambient air temps been exposed to engine bay heat and therefore the intake temp will be a lot higher, up to 30 degrees higher.
