Default Biggu's engine refresher build thread.

I dont know how many of you were able to recall but at the end of the season i began to have issues with my engine, just not running right, low compression and other things.

since its the off season now its time to do some work. heres the plan for the car. Since i was having problems with the compression its time to do the 1.5jz swap like i was wanting to do. im going to take my stock 2jz-ge block and rebuild the bottom end with good parts, do a single turbo conversion, remove ABS, take the hydro out of inline, make second brackets for second rear calipers, MKIV TT brakes front and rear, R154 transmission swap and other items. heres the parts im planning on getting for the engine build. its not set in stone so it could change.

Engine items
2jz-GE bottom end
Cometic 2.5mm HG
ARP head studs
OEM Oil pump
new front and rear oil seal
1jz-GTE head hot tanked
BC Titanium springs and retainers
BC 272 cams
polished head
OEM water pump
ATI super dampened pully
AC delete
OE oil cooler delete
Remote mount oil filter
Earls oil cooler
Setrab Ps cooler
all lines AN except vacuum
Custom power steering tank
-10 AN welded to valve cover
Moroso Oil catch can
Ebay manifold
GT3584R twin scroll DBB with billet back plate
synapse engineering 50 mm wastegate dump tube
4" downpipe to 3" duals to ASpec custom mufflers
Custom Intake to AEM dryflow filter
FIC 950 CC injectors
FIC -8 fuel rail
SS Teflon fuel line
Jegs 100 micron SS fuel filter
2x Walbro 255 fuel pumps
Mishimoto Radiator
AEM wideband
AEM oil pressure
AEM boost
AEM Serial gauge

Transmission stuff
Soarer r154
OS GIKEN twin disk tr2cd
Solid diff mounts
solid rear subframe mounts

with all said and done i should be able to be 550-600HP which is where im wanting to be.

Well the winter build has started, got a good start today. Tomorrow i should have the engine out and be ready to get it apart.
The start

all apart

the other engines.

looks promising, keep us updated, i'm still gathering parts for my swap, and i might just end up doin a 1.5 opposed to a straight 1j swap.

what kind of harness do u have to use with a 1.5j swap?

instead of the 1.5jz you should rebuild your 2jzge bottom end and put the 1jz pistons into it. this way you dont need any custom head gasket to "modify" the compression ration. in fact it will stay the same as stock.

good luck.

Couple of pointers.

Use some antisieze on that ATI, you'll thank me later. Also if it's just downright too tight, do not, (repeat) do not, machine the pulley, if you must, machine the crank.

Make sure and cycle your ARP headstuds upon installation and verify your torque specs by whatever lubricant you're using whether it be ARP lube or 30 wt.

If you have the time, take your block to a good machine shop that will make sure everything is line honed properly upon installation of the ARP mains. It isn't uncommon for the different torque ratings to change the stress on the block.

With that said looks like a fun build. Good luck!!

engine pulled out and everything ready to go. Found out why my clutch was so crappy sounding, the throw out bearing is completely shot.

Dang you are right behind me, lol mine did the same crap. Spec is garbage period.
I am in the middle of the Single Turbo conversion, Trans Swap I am still debating if i should do the 1.5JZ or just keep it like it is for now and boost the help out of it.
Project is looking good,GL with it.
