Default Whats it worth?

I'm looking seriously at a '95 SC 300, The car has 183k miles and the engine is shot. It runs very rough and likes to stall, clatters upon start-up etc. It definitely needs an engine swap. Other than that the ride is extremely smooth and tight. The suspension is outstanding from what I can tell. There are some cosmetic paint blemishes but not bad for the original paint, the leather is in great shape, a few electrical glitches as well, ie. the steering tilt is out but i hear it is easily fixed. Otherwise the car isnt bad... now to the question... Whats it worth with a shot engine? The guy is asking $2900 which is in my opinion way too much. What do y'all think...

Thanks,

Dustin

It will always seem up to the dedication of the new owner, to see how much time, money and patience you have for the right car purschase. If you see the potential, then I would say buy, go low, and then meet in the middle.. JMO.. It looks clean from the small photos.

Thanks for all the input guys and gals. I appreciate it greatly! It gives me a good bargaining point to start from. Now hopefully he deals and isn't just lookin for some poor schmuck to pay a lot because he doesn't know any better... I hate those kinds of people. lol

$2K tops but I would definitely try to get away with paying around the
$1500-$1800 area. Good luck!

Those are my thoughts as well. Something about that engine made me uncomfortable when driving it, but damn it was smooth and tight.

damn that's a clean looking car.

and why u so quick to think of doing an engine swap?? lol, I mean, DEPENDING on how bad or if the original engine really is....a good REBUILD while fortifying internals and then turbo(since ur probably gonna swap a GTE anyway) will probably do it justice. just consider it.

Never did he say anything about a turbo. Finding a lower mileage, good running 2jzge to drop in was going to be the plan. I don't think my buddy is ready for that stage yet. Baby steps.
