Default volume control **** delete?

so i have been thinking about getting an aftermarket radio or touch-screen because i miss having an ipod hookup and i hate having the cd changer in my trunk. the only think stopping me from getting an aftermarket setup is that stupid volume control **** and how it's separate from the radio. it would annoy me to have a **** there that's nonworking with an aftermarket radio that has a volume **** on it as well. so i have a couple of questions for you guys that searching had no answer to...

1) does that volume **** even work anymore after an aftermarket radio is installed? if not, and i decide to go with a touch-screen, is there a way to keep that volume **** and make it function with the touch-screen?

2) if i decide to go with an aftermarket radio that has it's own volume control on it (which all do), will there have to be some kind of additional rewiring other than the regular wiring harness adapter in order to convert volume control from the independent **** to the new radio's volume ****?

3) what do some of you guys do with that **** space once you put in an aftermarket setup? i have seen a couple of DIY's involving LED lights and carbon deletes and things like that, but i'm not looking to do anything like that. i'm trying to keep the interior of my car looking as stock as i can with the classy lexus look, meaning no painting or unnecessary lights etc. i was thinking of putting some kind of switch there, but i'm not sure what i would want the switch to hook up to. any ideas on what to do with the ****'s space?

I got rid of that garbage. No point on having a useless button there. It looks bad WITH 2 volume *****. Get rid of it or make into a super sweet NOS switch yo.

nos switch is simple. just pull back of switch off and figure out which connections coming off are power and ground. then wire that into your nos relay and when you press power nos is armed. or you can wire it into your actual solenoids and when you press it, go baby go!

I have seen it where people have replaced that **** with another cigarette lighter output. They do this by buying another Lexus/Toyota one and tapping in to the existing wires to the original factory ones, or you can simply run it where its constant 12 volts. Just a thought.

a couple more questions...

redphoenix, how did you delete yours? do they make that whole center console trim piece that has no hole for the volume ****, or did you fab that yourself?

also, will i lose my factory alarm when an aftermarket radio is intstalled? if so, how can i keep it?

You will NOT lose your factory alarm system. Mine has been out for a bit and no issues. I believe RedPhoenix used some bondo to fill his hole, then painted the whole trim piece. Dont quote me, but I think he posted some pictures of it on here and what he done.

I saw someone recently who put an S2000 start button in the volume **** spot, and it looked really clean. So, either do that, or shave it would be my suggestion.
