Default I Found Rust! Help!

When I took out my seats to replace my speakers in the rear, I found that the two drainage holes under the seats were rusted. So I decided to sand it and plug them with a rubber plug coated with some lithium grease. I proceeded to sand and guess what!? The hole just got bigger and bigger!

I'm really scared now! I'm afraid that the whole seat area might be weakened now. Under the seats, is that a structural area? Do I have to sell?

How would I repair this? I was thinking of getting rid of all the rust. Then filling the whole with fiberglass or liquid metal, then after spraying the bottom of the car with some more undercoating.

I have taken these pictures to give you all a visual! Thank you so much!

Thank You
Michael

whoa, thanks for those great pictures!
I gotta check this out too for myself. I have a 92 also, I hope I don't have this same problem.

Any tips on how to remove the back interior quickly & safely?

Thanks,
Tony

here's how to remove the rear seat (w/ pics!) also, would it be possible to just have a welding shop weld a new seat section back in? Find a junked SC and take that part out even... But it shoudn't be that big of a deal right? You might wanna put the car on a lift 2 check it out... My 93 SC400 doesn't have any of that rust, and I live & have to drive in New England winters (YUCK!!!)

Default HOw do you get rid of the rust?

MY car was originally a New Jersey car, so I'm wondering how you get rid of the rust underneath the car?

Default Seriously..there WAS a smell

The car had the odor of OLD MAN and CIGARS when I first bought it. After 3 years, and a new leather and carpet..the smell is gone....

But it still begs me to wonder "just what did he do in this car?"

IF the car could only speak
