Default outside temp display help

Ive been trying to figure out for the past three months why my AC stopped working and i need some help. Ive replaced all the relays and fuses and i just finished replacing the temp sensor all to no avail.

-The outside temp display on the cluster goes blank when i switch from the clock to the temp.
-The climate control is in perfect shape(no bleeding etc.) but shows no digital readout. the orange backlight lights up though.
-When i press any of the buttons, nothing happens at all.
-I replaced the climate control unit with an older one with the same result

I'm getting extremely frusterated and cant handle this florida summer heat with no AC. any help is great

Guess you can't hold down auto ac button and recirculate to go into diag mode....

ecu/ac control unit, or dome fuse?

yea... checking for codes wont work and i checked the dome fuse. I'm going to try and replace the ecu/ac control unit soon (that is the smaller box next to the main ecu?)
I shouldnt have any issues between obd1 and obd2 cars correct?

Any luck with this? What was the problem?

It sounds similar to what I'm experiencing now which is the air conditioner unit wont turn on. I checked all the fuses and none are blown. Also the outside temperature display is blank. The radio, the clock, and everything else is working fine.

The AC control unit is attached to the the ac display.

The small box next to the ecu is the abs/trac control ecu.

If you mean putting a odb1 ac control unit into the obd2 car...I don't know it might not work. You should definitely try an obd2 climate control unit if you can.

I can't find anything in the 97 fsm about your issue. The control unit can be test though with a multimeter..

It was my fuse for the cigarette lighter. A metal object was in my cigarette lighter, apparently that blew the fuse. I took it out and replaced the fuse and now the a/c is working again.

I had a similar problem where my AC just quit functioning after I did my single install. I had a wire shorted out that fed the AC unit/display. Ifxed that wire that was not giving the unit 12v and its worked since.

ive been redoing my interior and there were are add on clips on my cig fuse prob from old cellular hands free bs
removed those while working on my car

then when i put everything back in(2 weeks later) i have same problems as described in 1st post didnt think about those add on clips till week later was going crazy thinking about what it could be

conclusion: the clips along with the fuse made the opening bigger so when i removed the clip the fuse wasn't making good contact

so i replaced the fuse even though the fuse was okay and vhola it works

if your having these symptoms replace your fuse even though it seems okay and make sure its snug
