When in auto mode, any time it isn't set on max cold it turns on the heat and switch to floor - even set at 65 degrees when it's much MUCH warmer than that. I'm clueless when it comes to Lexus' electronics
there is a sensor by the right of steering wheel, I'd replace that since it is not reading correctly and telling the climate to go buck wild.
Do yopu know what this sensor looks like and where exectly it is located? Could it cause the AC not to work properly? My AC went out and I am in the process of troubleshooting the cause. I did experince warmer temperatures on the driver side in the past and always wondered what was causing it. Thank for your help!

It sounds to me that your a/c not working is most likely caused by a more traditional failure of the system, such as a bad compressor or a leak somewhere, usually having vent temps not match between center, left and right indicates a weak freon charge. once enough leaks out the pressure switch disables the compressor all together, check the lines that run directly below the front of the car behind bumper, mine had about 3 pinhole leaks in the aluminum line caused by pitting. I replaced them all and the system is working great.
Thank for the info. I inspected the front tubing and no holes were found. So I went ahead and recharged the system with leak-sealing freon. So far it works great, but if it stops again then I think I will need to hunt down that leak.
The best way to find that leak if it stops working again is to add a can of freon with UV Dye. that will make the leak much more visible if it's a small pinhole, just use a blacklight and look over everything, if it's leaking, you will see bright green everywhere around the area of the leak.
