Default rack bushings

just did my rack bushings today and it was overall pretty easy. what surprised me most was that my big center bushings were torn/ripped apart and the 2 smaller bushings, well they weren't there. lol only thing that was in there was the inner shells. CRAZY! i guess this was the reason why every time i hit a bump i hear a clunking sound. well thanks CL for all the help.

So what are your results? What it did it improve, change, or get rid of?

its a simple job, my bushings on my 94 were completely disentegrated as well.
I could only make out the shape of 1 of the 3. nice job.

i have no clunking sound any more and my steering response is a lot better. before everytime i hit a small bump/pot hole there's a lot of vibration and clunking sound because the idiot who owned the car before me didn't realize that there was actually no bushings in there.

From your profile it's for your sc400 right? From what I read, it's straight forward for the sc300 but not for the sc400?
I'm about to attempt this operation this weekend but based on the different feedbacks so far I'm getting conflicting points: some say it's a 1/2 hr job. Other say there's no conceivable play. My shop claims it's tough for the sc400 so he wanted an hour of labor.
The truth is somewhere in between. I guess I'll find out this weekend...

i did it on my sc400. easy peasy. took less than half an hour. i did it on a lift though. but i can imagine being on my back itd be a little bit longer. but not by much. having an impact gun helps the removal. good luck to ya. theres a DIY floating around here somewhere.
