Default Power

Ok... i know i have posted a thread simialar to this, but i never really got a clear answer. My 2k SC4 has the 300hp vvti engine ... i want to bump power upto 350 or more if possible for not too much dough (not more than 9k)

The only thing i have added for performance is the weapon ecu and high performance exhausts and intake... and a torque converter

im trying to remember what else i have on the car.. but lets just say the car is pretty much stock...

how much, where can i go, what exactly do i need?

thanks...
i want to know because i got creamed by a yukon with my girl in the car and it was embarrasing.. the guy had me the entire time...

A baby tap of NOS should get you there, but if you're gonna juice your car, 150-shot direct port injection alll the way!!!

Are you aiming for 350 at the crank or at the wheels? Cause you probably have close to 350 at the crank with the ECU, TC, and intake. That aftermarket exhaust my be hurting your torque numbers though. Those V-8 Yukons are torquey SOBs. You would have pulled on him quickly had you kept it up. I hung with my friend's V-6 S-10 in my stock '95 SC400 with passenger weight about even in both cars.

I creamed my friend's Yukon the other day, too... But not with my SC3 since it is still waiting for the Toyomoto Kit to be installed. I had to use my ML55.

Default Welll

I don't think it was how SLOW your Sc4 was..but he must've had something special under the hood of that yukon.

First off, your set up is NOT slow. w/torque conveter, you should be doing WELL under 6 seconds w/the 300hp vvti. w/the vvti alone is low sixes.....
Add the torque converter and weapon-r ecu/intake and u should easily be doing mid5s.....

That's the EXACT setup I'm planning after my engine swap.
I'll ahve the 300hpvvti like you, I have the high stall speed torque converter..and then I'll shop around for the ecu/intake.

Your car should be quick. maybe not blazing fast..but faster than most normally aspirated engines.

Well first your nitrous is stored in a pressurized tank. Before hitting the button, you have to open the tank valves and flood the hoses. When you hit the button, another valve sprays a certain amount of nitrous oxide directly into into the cylinders with the fuel mixture.

You can't run nitrous constantly because it's too expensive and you'd have to have a 500-pound bottle in your trunk that needs constant refills. Aside from that nitrous is too potent and puts more wear on your ENTIRE engine and all moving parts within it. If you've ever seen anyone use nitrous, their tach needles fly as soon as they hit the button. Too much nitrous at a time will wreck all kinds of **** in your engine. Most people don't feed more than 150-shot into a street racer unless they are insane and value a win more than their cars (600-shot C5 guy).

I don't recommend nitrous for you if all you want is more 0-60 speed. Rarely does anyone ever use nitrous right off the line, cause most cars have enough problems with traction. The SC400 is NO exception. You'll be spinning your wheels for a few seconds trying to connect. Especially with a torque convertor added on. NOS is used a lot in higher gear, like 3rd or 4th, or wherever your drivetrain lags. On the roll it's a lot harder to break up traction.

About the exhaust, you'll gain some high end horsepower at the expense of low end torque. Because it's freer flowing exhaust you lose back pressure. Bad off the line, but good at high speeds.

oh yeah no doubt about it, my lex is fast... i have a feeling the guy prolly had an eaton supercharger or something like that under his hood, it was just insane though...

I dont think i would put nos in my car jus cuz your right, im not interested in doing intense streetracing right now, as i am only 16 and am driving a lexus... if i were to use nos, it would be in a supra or something more "race like".... im not only interested in 0-60 speeds, but im more interested in that than alot of other things... once i get to 60, its not hard to get to other speeds, and it would be nice to have a low qm time, but for now im set...

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Toog4me: So you're 16 years old, have a 2000 SC400 with about $2000 in modifications on your car already and wanting even more.....Do your parents just hand out the cash everytime you want something else to make your car fast..........what's your trick?

1 zapco 750 watt amp
6.5 focal component set
2 1.0 farad capicatators
2 8" Kenwood touchscreens in visors
2 6.5" kenwood screens in headreasts
1 pioneer avic 9 dvd players and navagation system (has a nasty antenna and has a harddisk, so thats a plus)
Pioneer avx-p7300dvd and avm-p8000r

thats really the only stuffi paid for which i worked my *** of for... (summer job)
