Default Anyone get their SC's new?

Is there anyone on here that got their SC300 new? How quiet and comfortable was it new?

What I want to do is restore my 97 SC300 to like new condition and keep it as my DD and I just want to know how the was it new. Right now I'm starting with repairing the suspension, because the struts are bad and I'm pretty damn sure the ball joints are shot as well and the car is super loud at highway speeds. When I hit the smallest bump it feels like the car is going to bottom out and I'm pretty sure this is not the way it should be lol.

How would you compare the SC to other Lexus's in the area of comfort?

I had the same situation with my first SC. It was a 93 with 70k on it.(RIP) The ride and feel of it were much MUCH better than the one I have now, And it was much quieter at all speeds. I think with age these cars get pretty loose and noisy.

A good thng to replace to make it quieter are the door and sunroof seals. My sunroof makes a ton of wind noise when at high speeds.
Generally everyone says to replace 'anything rubber' when ppl buy a used SC, but the same would go if you want to refurbish yours.

I was wondering about the seals, I was always told that if you change the seals on sunroofs and doors you will have issues with leaks because it is almost impossible to do it correct, is there any truth to this?

I wish I got mine new. I don't know who told you that^^^^, but if you make sure that all of the drains are unclogged and working properly than it should be fine.

Yeah , I got mine new in 1992, SC 300 - 5 speed, it was EXTREMELY smooth and EXTREMELY quiet, with the windows up at idle, you almost could not tell that the engine was running. The only thing in it's class was the LS400. I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten one new, still not too shabby all these years later. My 07 ES350 (though nice) is not in the same league. I drove em all and only the big guy could equal or surpass it for smoothness and quiet.
