anyone know if i would be able to install the bushings myself or does it really need to be taken to a shop to have them punch it out? upper and lower fronts? rear? mine needs to be replaced asap..... is there a tool i can buy that can punch these out to save me some money instead of taking it to a shop?
if i did take it to a shop what am i looking to spend? thanks!
honestyl its not complex to do it but its time consuming. i just did mine about 2 months ago and u have to burn them out. im sure u can push them out but burning is much easier and u have to clean them super good. well this was to install the daizen's. this is for the front upper and lower. i think if u take it to a shop ur easily looking between 500-1000 bucks. id do it myself. its not hard, just tiime consuming. plan on not driving ur car for a day
thanks guys! did u use a blow torch to burn it out? or oven (soften the rubber out)? also when u did the daizen install did u get the full kit(bushing and plates) .... or the the bushings itself?

it cost 500-1000 to change bushings??? thats like engine swap money, you sure about this?
I just did had my prothane kit (front and rear) installed by my mechanic. Had the TM steering rack mount bushings installed as well. He charged me 600 dollars due to the fact that he had to torch them out individually and reuse the original shell and casing. If I had the oppurtunity to go back in time, I would have purchased the daizen front kit with the new case and sleeve.
If you purchase the daizen kit with the new shell and case then you'll only need to have them press out the old one and press the new one. There are two different model numbers for the daizen kit, one with new sleeves and one without. The prothane front kit requires you use the original case and sleeve.
I too had contemplated on DIY but I could not afford the downtime.
They are a pain to change since you cant torch them all out. You have to at least press the ones with aluminum arms. Ideally, you would press them all out. Most shops tend to charge between 800-1000 for the service. It varies of course if you provide parts. I helped a friend do his and it was almost more trouble than it was worth between the down time, trips to the hardware store, etc. It was a fun experience, but I took mine to a shop and had it in and out in under 2 days.
Daizan bushings are good so far.. I have replaced all of mine, and its not that hard. You will have to burn them out. Take your time.. Use the above links and if you need further assistance let us know. Well worth the time and money. Also, may be a good idea to change struts, mounts, and the sway bar bushings and links.. These are not much more, but well worth the time and effort. Just my 2 cents!
the plate dont usually get distroyed right? would hate to order from jegs (without the shell/plate) and after taking the bushing out that the plates are broken. ive got 108k miles on my car but putting it on reverse it chugs/squeaks pretty bad. would like to save money, daizen kit is nearly 300 from both front and back.
