Who is going to Cali on the 23 & 24, I am considering going, but wanted to figure out who else was going to go.

That city is about 45 minutes away from me. Never been to this sort of deal, but it sounds amazing! Either i go to the event, or i lose 700 bucks from working. What is a guy to do?

 

i don't know if i'm going or not yet- is there a cost? entry fee?

 

I'm definitely going assuming I still have a license to drive by then. I have a court appearance on the 14th to settle an exhibition of speed ticket worth up to 2-3 points. If I can, I will. Although, my car probably isn't as pimped out as half the other Lexuses there will be. Wish me luck!

 

I was actually thinking about making the cross country trip because I have never been to Cali. I am debating between driving or flying since I am coming from Michigan. Since I quit my job, these are the kinda decisions that take up all my time!!!

 

If I had more warning time I would go, but I think I might have my last MCSE class that Saturday. If not, I might make the drive. 800 mile round trip for me...

They'd pick the WORST place in the united states to have this of course It'd be better for everyone to have it in Texas since its in the middle of the US

If I can't take my car, I won't be going... and I don't have the patience to drive in one direction for two days

 

Might as well go to the more kick back NorCAl meet the week after March30th....

You need a good lawer? What city are you at. Usually these kind of tickets get good settlements and you get no points but have to pay.

 

Yeah I need a good lawyer! The citing was in King City in Monterey County, so I have to drive 180 miles to Marina, CA to settle the punishment. I'd prefer a huge fine as opposed to points on the license. I checked the ticket again, and the cop had me doing 110 in a 70 zone, though he nearly pulled my teeth out getting me to admit to 110. He docked me for following too closely also, which I'm sure he can get away with at the speed I was going.

 

Haha, good old King city. I learned many moons ago that WHOLE AREA is one big speed trap. The CHP has planes, choppers, and cruisers all over the place because everyone goes really fast out there. A note to anyone who travels between SoCal and NorCal or vice versa: when you're within 15 miles of King City, keep it under 80.

Yeah, when I got to Cal Poly, everyone was ready to tell me about the notorious 'King City', but no one felt the need to tell me beforehand. Usually I use HWY 5 to get to socal. And I don't usually drive that fast, it happens that I was making the 3.5 hour trip at 11pm and I really felt the wear by 1am. The funny part is when I drove back during the daytime, I noticed that I got ticketed between First Street and Park Ave, right where the CHP dispatch station was located!

Well I was actually going up to 130 between clusters of traffic. You know that big open road once you break through the pack of cars. Lucky for me the cop didn't know that .
