Purchasing a 93 SC300, need to know what ya'll think
My buddies selling his 93 Sc300 for 7k, he says its worth more. Now he did a few things to it like a 1jz-gte swap, re-upholstered his interior including the front SUPRA seats, full coilover suspension, 18" rims, and recently had a major tune up. The car has a CLEAN title but the paint and body needs some work. KBB value for this vehicle and the mileage it has on the chassis(170,XXX) is around 5k in EXCELLENT condition.
I just wanted to know what ya'll think. Is the price reasonable? He dropped the motor in about 2 years ago. How long will these stock boosted motors last? And, if something goes wrong and I need a part where would I go? Are the parts from the US Supras interchangable?
The guys here at work says its not a good buy, they're mechanics and wanted me to check the compression first. So, I would appriciate your inputs and opinions.

well there could be alot of reasons why your friends wouldnt like it... but the question is... is the car ragged out? is it a beater? does the kid not know to drive or ???
assuming he has enough knowledge to do a 1jz-gte swap... he should know how to drive and as for the mechanics... they probably don't like toyota... stocks parts are not hard to fine and there are parts that are interchangeable

I personally dont think its a beater cause the car drives smooth and it still pulls hard like a ****. The owner isnt actually a kid, hes a young doctor and is moving up in life and wants something more conservative. Hes done a few swaps and knows what he's doing. I'm just afraid down the line in a few months later if the motors gonna take a dump on me, I just want to prepare myself cause if I do purchase this car it will be my only transportation.
I would still like some of your opinions..

Seems reasonable enough. The stock 1jz's are about as reliable as the stock turbo 2jz's that came in the supra, but it would also depend on the mileage of the 1jz. Some of the parts are interchangable, but if you need more specific parts may have to source them online. If motor, stance, wheels, and interior are pretty much done to your liking... then great. If you're looking into refreshing the paint, that could cost you another 2-3k easy. But for a car that looks and drives like new for 10k (after paint)... not too shabby at all.
Pics and more details would help though.

pictures would help. Look in the engine bay, does it look like a pretty clean install? These swaps will go a long time, but if he doesn't take care of the car, then obviously that's when things can go wrong. Do you trust him?

yo the paint isn't going to 2 or 3k unless u want to change the color and even then it wont be that much. im painting my sc and doing the body work and its only running me $400. the car sounds worth it. id get it if i were u.
