Default Decision time.... Build or let it sit?

Last week I had someone approach me that has been bugging me to sell my Benz for about 2 years. The only difference this time is he is getting to the point that he wants it so much he's willing to overpay....... so at this point he has my attention.

I've denied him for 2 years because I LOVE my Benz. I specifically looked for a silver W208 with black interior for a while before I found it. 300 hp/310ft lbs torque GERMAN power, highly underrated. Runs circles around the Sc, all *****. AMG tuned suspension, AMG body and wheels, 4.3l v-8, power everything, German black leather interior, gated shifter, wood trim. Car gets noticed.

No that you know what we're dealing with, here's the rest....... If I sell him my Benz, I'll be spending some cash on the SC. I've been wanting to do the suspension for years, but never got around to it. Too many other cars to spend money on. That'll change if I sell the Benz. I would be using a good chunk on my '50 Streamliner.

I'd be using another chunk to put some wheels on my Jag.

The final chunk (the largest chunk) would be put towards the SC. Paint, suspension, etc........ The problem is that I have just finally gotten to the point where I am "even" in the car. I've spent a total of $8,500 on the car in 7 years (including asking price). That's the 97 conversion, paint, wheels, parts, purchase of the car, etc...... Having owned it 7 years I finally feel like I have "gotten my money's worth". So I'm feeling pretty good about it right now and trying to decide if I want to dump more money into it.

So I'm putting it to a vote. Would you sell the Benz to finish building the SC?

Ultimately that's what's holding me back at the moment. It took me 6 months to find a silver/black CLK W208 in mint shape. In the last 2 years I've sold my IS300 that had RMM goodies on it, Corvette, Porsche Turbo with tons of mods, Custom BMW 3 series completely modded on every corner, another Porsche, and god knows what I am forgetting........ but I never even thought twice about selling the Benz. It's that much better than anything I have ever owned and I've had everything twice.

The only other car I have that kind of loyalty to is my SC that has held the driveway down for 7 years.

I'd sell the 430 in a heartbeat, to build a nice SC. The w208 cant upgrade for ****, I think the most you can do is put a clk55 amg air box with green filters, exhaust and maybe if you want to be a big boy use a kleeman supercharger for about 15k.

If I were you I'd buy a CLK55 I think they make like 342 BHP 376 Ft lbs. Or build a coupe. The 4.3 is a mildly fun engine stock, but you cannot do much with it. I'd take a 1uz with a few extras.

I say keep the Benz. As much as I love SC's putting to much cash in one until your so upside down you can never sell it is somthing I can relate too. Your SC is hella hot so why put a bunch of cash in it (I know, I'm a fine one to talk)

All that said, If you are ready to part with the Benz and you have a really strong offer then sell for sure, in todays economy its hard to sell anything for what its worth. It is a sweet car but you seemto have several sweet cars so you may not miss it that much.

My 2 cents.

where is the option of "sell all the non japanese cars because they are garbage, keep the SC, and work on your '50." i love flat/matte paint.

you really need paint on the SC. from all the pics ive seen it looks good. if you do anything get some dampers and possibly look into control arm bushings. after a while its not the cars but mileage but rather the age that makes them deteriorate.

so....sell the benz

sell it...

I sold my '03 SL500 and bought a GS400 and GS300... with money left to mod.

It was nothing 'special' to make me want to keep it. That Kinda made the decision easy to get rid of it.

keep the benz, sell the jag, but if you dump more money into the SC, consider owning it for the rest of your life.

how reliable is your benz? i mean, i guess that doesn't matter since you can obviously afford to pay for it when it goes wrong, but seems like all my buddies that have had them have had terrible luck with the cars and the dealers. i still think you should keep the merc though honestly. it's ballin.

i agree keep the benz and sell the jag but i have a twist forget spending money on the sc and put your money on the 50 to deck it out instead of the sc and save some extra cash reinvest it into something else.... sorry I'm anti jag now that ford owns them.....so i can say why would you like to own a over priced ford.....I've test drove em and can't stand them as for benz i had a 2004 clk amg 55 and i loved that car so benz over jag any day in my book but thats imo
