Here's a cool idea: Keep the tranny and do a 5-speed conversion to the SC400...

just a thought, good luck on the new car!

I am unsure what I will be doing with the parts, as it was very expensive to buy it back from the insurance........ 576$.

So yes, they are giving me back about 5,200 for the car. As for parting it out, I am unsure at the moment as a 5 speed Sc400 is very tempting; I will have to get ahold of Blizzy for some more info on this.

For those who have PM'd me and asked, the process is simple. When you have full coverage and you get into an accident, an adjuster either comes to your vehicle, or they pay to have it towed to a "regional inspection station" to be checked out. I declined to have mine move, as the nearest location was out of the state. They came and checked it out, asked me some things about upgrades and such, and went on there way after taking alot of pictures. In a few days, they call and tell you that it is a total loss (the damage to my SC would cost 13,000 to repair) and ask to tow the vehicle or get a qoute from Salvage. My car to a salvage lot was worth 576$, so if I decide to keep the car I have to turn my title in to the DMV and have it changed to a salvage title, and fax a copy to my insurance company. When this is complete, and all the processing is good they desposit the remaining amount (5854 without keeping the car, 5278 to keep it) into my bank account. Bamn, you are done. Now, I you have to pay an arm and a leg later down the road for car insurance. Luckily, I will be hitting the age bracket soon so I should be seeing a slight decrese down the road anyways.

I am happy to be alive, and with a few bucks in my pocket to get myself a new hobby car. However, I am enjoying this ford ranger alot; so I've found a good daily driver until the new Sc hits the garage.

Thanks for all of your support guys. Car accidents are no joke and I want to endorse my feelings for proper suspension. Alot of people just want power to the ground, but if you can totally destroy a car with a stock engine doing every day driving; Please don't neglect properly maintained suspension and tires. These are wonderful cars, but are also a death trap to anyone you hit. My 3500~LBS car took out three 1 foot diameter wooden posts before finally coming to rest. If you act like a fool, you will devistate someones life other than your own. I had perfect cabin integrity, but I can't say the same for someone else if you hit someone. Safe driving friends at Club Lexus.
