All of mine were on there pretty tight. I might try it again with a deeper socket when I have some time to get under there.

tried it just now and torque it down to 100 ft/lb and it's still making the creaking noise..i'm thinking it's either the motor mounts or lca bushings..

ok so i ended up finding the torque settings under the MAINTENANCE part of the shop manual.

the 4 17mm nuts should be torqued down to 94ft/lbs.

while i was under there, i also torqued down the crossmember that holds the rear connecting point of the lower control arm.

there are 6 19mm bolts, and they should be torqued to 148ft/lbs.

before i did this, i had a clunking on braking, and the ride was pretty harsh going over bad roads, etc (thot it was simply because of no bushings in the suspension). now, it's like night and day, there's no more clunking on braking, and the ride is now more solid, it's still a firm ride, but not harsh.

Gonna crawl under the car this weekend to recheck the 17mm and check the 19mm bolts. I don't think my current torque wrench goes up to 148ft/lbs lol. Might have to invest in a new one, thanks for the info.

We tried this on my friends 92, they were all tight.
The strange thing with his car is that the noise dramatically decreases after the car has been on a long run and the engine bay is warmed up.

It's unnecessary to lift the car to do the procedure.

You can do it on your back with the car on the ground easily.

Good to know, but I have other things to install, so I was thinking more like do it all at once for convenience.

not really. unless you're super strong.

hard to get leverage to do 148 ft lbs. and if your car is lowered, 94 ft lbs is still pretty hard.
