Default Removing Driver Seats When Stuck Forward

Hey guys/ gals. Havin' another issue lately. Front seat is stuck all the way up and cant manage to get it off to fix the motor cap. Can anyone tell me where the bolts are to remove the seat? There is one bolt on each side of the bottom of the railing near the back that i can feel but those are the only ones...Are these the right ones? Anyone have pictures. I searched but only found posts on how to fix the seat and not how to remove it. I love the car but cant enjoy driving it with my knees on the dashboard. Please help! All answers (besides negative ones) will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I removed both of my front seats when I bought my '93 SC400 to clean the carpeting. Removing the seats was easy. Look for four (4) plastic caps (mine were tan as I have the tan interior) at the four corners of the seat frame (where the seat frame contacts the carpeting). Pop each open and put a socket wrench (14mm I think ... but I could be wrong) on each and remove. Before you lift the seats out be sure to disconnect the wiring harness for each seat and reconnect when you reinstall them.

Good luck ...

first check all the fuses in the kick panel, then under the hood, then if no dice from there grab a swivel attachment, a socket extension, and I think a 12mm (might be 14mm) and get to work where LD said.

Yes it is 14mm and there are 5 total nuts (2 in front 3 in back). It can be a little awkward trying to pull it out by yourself and unclipping the wire harness, but with a little effort you should be able to get it out. The seats are a lot heavier then they look!

Five bolts ... I thought it was only four. Maybe I was drinking too much when I pulled the seats.

Anyway, this is a very easy job. If I can do it ... anyone can.

I had a similar problem on my SC. Because of where the seat had jammed the only way that I could get to the mounting bolts was to take a standard 14mm scocket (I believe that is the size) and using my bench grinder I grounded down two sides of the socket so as to be able to get a spanner wrench or cresent wrench (can't remember which) on to the socket to loosen the bolts. There was simply no room to put a socket wrench on the top of the socket.(It would not clear the seat space to work in.) Once I got the seat(be very careful here and really look closely for any loose gears laying on the floor or in your bottom seat area) removed, I immediately notice that a small plastic gear in one of the seat motors (the motor that moves the seat bottom froward and back)had popped out. I pushed the gear back into the little motor, sealed it, and it has worked great since. Good luck

Does anyone know how to put the seat itself together? I got one in the mail in two pieces and I'm sitting here realizing... crap I don't know how this thing goes together?

if its stuck forward you cant really get to the front bolts...

i had this problem with my passenger seat. all i did was manually move it back to get to the bolts in the front.

theres 2 bolts in the front where the rails are... the head of the bolt face the front of the car. when you loosen them or tighten them it slides the seat forward and backwards.
