i'm guessing yours is a sc300. when i did mines i didn't even loosen the tensenor bolt instead i forced it on there by pushing down on the belt near the alternator...

You will have better luck posting this in the Engine forum.

If you have an SC300 all you do is stick a 14mm socket w/socket wrench on the center bolt where the tensioner is. You then apply a significant amount of force downward until the tensioner moves. While you are holding it down with one hand you want to quickly remove the belt with the other hand and BAM!

You don't have to loosen the nut. If you are loosening the nut you are pulling the ratchet (from the passenger side). You should be pushing the ratchet (from the passenger side). If you are in the Los Angles area I can help you out since its like a 20 minute job. Here is a useful link:

doesnt take more than a minute or two if you have an extra set of hands. get a crow bar and slide it on the drivers side of the tensioner pulley and have a friend pull on the top of the crow bar towards the drivers side. this should loosen it so that you can swap out the belt.

If the belt is still loose and the tensioner is good, double check the way you routed the belt with the diagram under your hood.

I think im a pro at this since I destroyed 2 of them.... pretty much like they said. 14mm put it on the tensioner bolt and push down (in the tighten position) and move the belt off.

Get new belt on and route it like the diagram. If you think your tensioner is loose look at the top mark of the tensioner it should be pointing directly up.
